Refrigerator Repair in Pacific Palisades

Built-in and freestanding refrigerators, wine columns, and ice makers — sealed-system, control-board, and compressor repair.

Expert Refrigerator Repair along the California coast

When something goes wrong with a refrigerator in a Pacific Palisades home, it rarely announces itself politely. Lights dim. Ice melts. A wash cycle stops mid-spin on a Friday evening. We built Pacific Palisades Appliance Repair around that exact moment — answering calls personally, arriving same-day when we can, and diagnosing before we quote.

Stephen Peterson founded this company in 2011 to bring a quieter, more thorough standard of appliance repair to the coast. Fourteen years on, our team is factory-trained on every luxury brand you’ll find in a Palisades kitchen — and we carry OEM parts in the van rather than running to a warehouse in the Valley.

Salt air is the quiet enemy

Refrigerators within a mile of the ocean age differently. The marine layer that rolls up from PCH carries salt, and salt finds condenser coils. In Castellammare and along the bluffs of the Riviera we routinely see coils that look ten years old on five-year-old units: corroded fins, pitted stainless kick plates, condenser fan motors seizing early. Garage refrigerators and outdoor kitchen units in Marquez Knolls take the worst of it, because they never get the filtered indoor air a kitchen unit enjoys.

The fix is unglamorous but real. An annual coil cleaning and fan inspection runs far less than a compressor, and near the water we recommend it every twelve months without exception. If your unit runs constantly, cycles loudly, or the cabinet sides feel hot, the coil is usually where we start.

Built-in refrigeration is most of what we see here

Palisades kitchens skew heavily toward panel-ready built-ins: Sub-Zero 600 and 700 series, Designer columns, Miele MasterCool, Thermador Freedom columns. These are not appliances you slide out and swap. A Sub-Zero BI-36U weighs several hundred pounds and is scribed into cabinetry; diagnosing it in place is a skill, and we’ve spent fourteen years building it. Typical jobs and honest ranges: an evaporator fan replacement usually lands between $350 and $500, a door gasket between $250 and $400, and sealed-system work — the big one — between $900 and $1,600 depending on access and refrigerant. We quote after diagnosis, never before.

New refrigerators in rebuilt homes

A surprising share of our current refrigerator calls involve appliances only weeks old. As homes lost in the January 2025 fire are rebuilt, brand-new units are arriving by the truckload, and new does not mean trouble-free: sealed systems damaged in shipping, water lines never flushed before the first ice batch, doors racked during a tight garage carry, builder-grade packages installed without proper clearances. We handle warranty-adjacent diagnosis, commissioning checks on Sub-Zero and Miele installs, and — on surviving homes nearby — condenser coil cleaning where smoke exposure left residue behind. Our standing 15% rebuild discount applies to all of it.

Getting to you

Scheduling on the coast means respecting the roads. We stage service windows around PCH traffic at Chautauqua, take Temescal Canyon when Sunset backs up, and book Highlands appointments in the morning before Palisades Drive slows. For the narrow hillside driveways of Castellammare we send the smaller van. Tell us where you are and we’ll tell you honestly when we can be there — and then we’ll actually be there.

Ready when you are
